Component Engineer

    Job Description:
    In SLC Operations organization, the Component Engineer is the central point and interface for manufacturing (HW), R&D community (HW + SW), project buyers and suppliers. His role covers the components and suppliers selection, the security of supply (end of life management), the technology roadmap, the cost trend, the database management, the quality crisis and the suppliers relations and communication
    His expertise is a key for success for SLC
    Activities:
    1- Supports R&D/engineering, commodity, project and solutions in identifying the optimum “components (hardware, software, subassemblies) to be integrated in SLC global solutions by ensuring confirmity with the applicable regulations and standards (environment, safety and CE marking).
    2 - Interface with R&D and Suppliers for new components/solutions introduction in SLC portfolio: scope of work creation, actions follow up , progress report...
    3 - Responsible for the technology roadmap (technology trends, costs, capacity, multi-sourcing) to anticipate the future development and secure the business.
    4 - Implements and maintains the components coding structures (HW+SW), AVL (Approved Vendor List) and related documents in SLC product database.
    5 - Updates SLC components database according to the components market (supplier reference change, procurement specification…)
    6 - Surveys the components market and tracks the end of life notifications, checks and proposes alternative to R&D/Engineering team for replacement as much as possible  in order to secure the manufacturing capabilities
    7 - Participates for new HW and SW suppliers selections and maintains contacts with existing ones.
    8 - Supports the commodity/project buyers in their price negotiations by performing cost analysis.
    Interfaces with R&D/engineering and projects in order to deliver optimum specifications (regulations, standard …) to a third party in case of external partnership for a solution development. 
    9 - Co-ordinates with manufacturing/supply chain (internally and externally) in order to address with suppliers quality issues.
    Candidate profile:
    - Experience: > 8-10 years
    - Technical profile in the sectors of engineering (design), technical support: knowledge of electronic components [analog circuit, radio, logic, accessories and various telecom equipment (chargers, batteries, displays, servers, router, switch, etc.)] , knowing how to read their technical characteristics, evaluating them in order to propose them to R&D, knowing how to identify and propose alternative components when they are obsolete.
    - Experience on configuration management and familiar with change processes. The "Component Engineer" is required to create and manage the components and supplier portfolios in the databases. 70-80% of the activity is supported by the PLM configuration tool (Windchill).
    - Familiar with project environments. The "Component Engineer" is an actor in development and projects maintenance, he works with multicultural teams, internal (colleagues) and external (suppliers, industrial partners).
    - Familiar with industrial environments (Time to cost, Time to market, Time to quality). The "Component Engineer" supports the Supply Chain and quality teams to address situations of component breakage or the resolution of quality problems in production, or even supplier audits. It interfaces with R&D to deal with these subjects.
    - Quality :
    o Rigor: responsible for the management of components, their life cycle and supplier portfolios in the SLC product databases that feed industrial manufacturing.
    o Curiosity: the candidate must be interested in the roadmaps of component suppliers
    o Agile and communicative: interfaces with actors with different profiles (R&D, quality, purchasing, suppliers and industrial partners).
    o Supports the pressure: intervenes if necessary to unblock the industrial problems to which our partners may be exposed in production.
    o May be required to travel to suppliers.
    - English language.
