Airbus app transmits real-time videos from the sky

Published: 22 May, 2018

Airbus_217miniElancourt, 22 May 2018During the Technos Days Valabre near Aix-en Provence (France) on 23th and 24th May, Airbus will demonstrate how videos and aerial pictures from a drone can be integrated into the secure multimedia collaboration tool Tactilon Agnet This system can help when floods or forest fires occur and fire brigades need to get an overview in the vicinity of an incident.

The demo’s concrete scenario is about searching for a missing person. A drone transmits an aerial video stream in real time. Whilst wearing special glasses displaying the real-time video, a firefighter can detect the lost person.

When firefighters need highly reliable and flexible communication channels for difficult missions, Tactilon Agnet can be the right answer. Commanders can quickly equip a motley team of paramedics, soldiers, volunteers, firefighters and police officers with the application. On missions, Tactilon Agnet can be used on various kinds of devices and it sends out information from different sources, such as unmanned aerial vehicles or others. This helps to accelerate the coordination and precision of rescue missions destined to save lives.

Tactilon Agnet is an app that lets smartphone users contact professional Tetra or Tetrapol talk groups at the touch of a button. With Tactilon Agnet, selected smartphone and tablet users become part of the professional world – voice, data, video and location services are all on hand and all with the reliability and security that professional users expect.

“At Valabre, the French community of fire brigades has the unique opportunity to take a look at tomorrow’s group communication for public safety,” says Oliver Koczan, Head of Secure Land Communication at Airbus. “Airbus is highly interested in working closely together with firefighters to improve their communication tools.”

The French School for Civil Security Application (École d'Application de Sécurité Civile de Valabre) and the “Centre Opérationnel de Zone” is based in Valabre. The latter coordinates all activities to fight forest fires and rescue missions at sea, in the mountains or other supraregional incidents for all 14 departments in Southern France. Launched in 2017, the annual event hosts conferences, workshops and live tech demos for the fire brigade community and the public to improve future technology for all kinds rescue missions.
