Airbus Secure Land Communications (SLC), an Airbus Defence & Space business unit, offers advanced communication and collaboration solutions to gather, process and deploy intelligence. Its portfolio is tailored to the needs of Public Safety, Defence as well as Transport, Utility and Industry (TUI). It includes infrastructure, devices, applications and services based on Tetra, Tetrapol and Broadband technologies (either single, hybrid or multi-technology solutions). As the European leader and a key international player, SLC has customers in more than 80 countries and employs around 1,150 people in 17 countries. Airbus DS SLC Belgium employs approximately 25 persons in the Brussels office and is responsible for coordinating the development of SLC in the Benelux.
The office in Brussels close to Brussels Airport is looking for a Bid Manager (m/f/d) to join the dynamic team of professionals.
You will be responsible for directing activities related to Secure Land Communications (SLC) bids in Benelux. In particular you will be in charge of:
- Making proposals containing innovative and attractive technical and commercial solutions built upon Secure Land Communications (SLC) portfolio to address customer needs.
- Coordinating and driving SLC teams to deliver winning, profitable and executable bids on-time, on-cost and on-quality.
- Managing tenders following the Airbus DS bid process.
Driving through bid decisions from the management.
Tasks & accountabilities:
- Integrate in Airbus offering the first-hand knowledge of the customer’s needs.
- Securing answer to administrative requests associated to Public Markets and official RFx process.
- Prepare discussions and presentations with customers and other internal or third parties to convincingly articulate SLC bid positioning and value for customers.
- Get and integrate in our offering high level system solutions from highly skilled professionals.
- Identify customer requirements and bring them to the portfolio and the transversal bid teams for solution and services identification. Develop Unique Selling Points approach.
- Answer first budgetary proposal requests, RFI’s or similar customer requests as necessary.
- Work closely with sales and the central teams to create competitiveness and value for our customers.
- Make sure all costs of the proposals are identified and taken into account in the Bid form.
As Bid Manager (m/f/d) you will drive the internal multi-discipline Bid team (Program line, Portfolio, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Legal, etc.). This flexible Bid team is created in order to:
- Develop and provide targeted proposal content in response to customer needs and constraints.
- Perform and secure overall bid activities in compliance with the Airbus DS bid process
The Bid Manager (m/f/d) is involved in the following activities (but not limited to):
- Sales support and sales process.
- Project risks management and lessons learnt analysis support.
- Coordination of the different Airbus internal offer contributors (Commercial, Programs and Customer Care, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, …).
- Coordinate the tender activities both for internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitating brainstorming sessions to define the customer’s key points, to define the different relevant stakeholders in the customer’s organization, etc.
- This role will involve some travels for business with short-notice periods.
Required skills:
- 5 years degree level in Engineering or Business Administration. Good understanding of IT and telecommunications technology.
- Good knowledge of business models (e.g.: pricing model, offer calculation, software selling).
- Good knowledge and approach for the public market and the ecosystem in the Benelux.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, verbal, written and interpersonal, in an international environment.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to manage on-site and remote teams.
- Strong “can do” mindset, persistent and proactive.
- Highly analytical and organized.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, make critical decisions and result-oriented working style.
- Ability to handle uncertainty and stress.
- Fluent Dutch, negotiation level in English. Knowledge of French is an additional advantage.
- Ideally, successful experience in the preparation of major bids in a national and/or international environment.
