Secure Land Communications (SLC), an Airbus business unit, offers advanced communication and collaboration solutions to gather, process and deploy intelligence. Its portfolio is tailored to the needs of Public Safety, Defence and Transport, Utility and Industry (TUI). It includes infrastructures, devices, applications and services based on Tetra, Tetrapol and Broadband technologies (either single, hybrid or multi-technology solutions). Within the Operations department, the Program Management Office (PMO) organisation is in charge of the management of all SLC R&D projects, from the design of the solutions to their delivery to customers. In a context of business and project execution transformation, we are looking for a person to drive our R&D performance to be a benchmark in PMO Excellence. The PMO Excellence Leader reports to the Head of Program Management Office (PMO) and the position is located in Helsinki.

Main role and responsibilities

As PMO Excellence Leader, your responsibility will be to manage transversal improvement initiatives in the field of R&D activity. This R&D activity includes infrastructures, devices, applications and services based on Tetra, Tetrapol and Broadband technologies. The projects can be run in waterfall or agile methodology, or use a mix of both.

The goal of the improvement initiatives is to make our R&D activity more efficient, improving time-to-market, product quality and customer satisfaction. Those initiatives will address processes, performance indicators and tools. They will involve the PMO organisation but also numerous stakeholders from various other organisations, e.g. Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Supply Chain. A specific focus will be put on SLC's own development process called Release Train, which is inspired by the SAFe model and aims at supporting the evolution towards DevOps. In your role of PMO Excellence Leader, you will also be part of the management team of the PMO organisation.

We are looking for a candidate with:

• Project management skills in both waterfall and agile methodologies

• Performance management and data analysis skills

• Knowledge of Lean, SAFe and DevOps models

• Capability to drive change by influencing people with positive approach

• Excellence in organising cooperation between stakeholders

• International mindset

• Presentation and communication skills to diverse audiences

• Strong command of written and spoken English language

• At least 10 years of experience in project management/ performance management

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Science or Technology

• Experience in implementing new project management practices (e.g. transition to Agile methodologies) and performance management frameworks (e.g. extension of velocity measurement).

Experience in an international company is considered a plus. The position requires basic security clearance approval from Finnish authorities. The position is permanent and will start as agreed.
