System Architect

    Secure Land Communications (SLC), an Airbus business unit, offers advanced communication and collaboration solutions to gather, process and deploy intelligence. Its portfolio is tailored to the needs of Public Safety, Defence and Transport, Utility and Industry (TUI). It includes infrastructures, devices, applications and services based on Tetra, Tetrapol and Broadband technologies (either single, hybrid or multi-technology solutions). As the European leader and a key international player, SLC has customers in more than 80 countries and employs around 1,150 people in 17 countries. In Finland, Airbus Defence and Space Oy employs around 370 people in Helsinki and Jyväskylä.

    We are now looking for a System Architect to join System Architecture and Specifications team in Jyväskylä, to strengthen our team to enable the future growth of our business. Our System Architects have central role in defining and specifying our solutions and products.

    Main role and responsibilities

    • Lead and take responsibility on technical management of feasibility phase/feature studies
    • Validate the technical option and selected technologies
    • Support the project planning and execution
    • Define and model Functional and Physical architecture
    • Identify potential patents and submit the relevant ones
    • Technical management of the partners involved in the terminal development
    • Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the business-critical communication solution
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enablers and solution implementation
    • Plan and develop the architectural runway to support new business features and capabilities
    • Establish critical Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and identify technical constraints

    What we expect of you

    • Good experience of Android platform and applications
    • Good experience of iOS platform and applications
    • Following knowledge is seen as merit
    • Experience with full stack web development technologies
    • Solid understanding of the following: Integration platforms, API management, micro-service architectures, information security, cloud infrastructures, business support systems, IoT, mobile technologies, DevOps practices and scalable agile framework
    • Working experience with Mobile Network Operators and/or System Integrators
    • Good English language skills (both in spoken and written). Finnish is seen as an  advantage

    In order to succeed in System Architect position you need to understand solution’s economic trade-offs.

    Succeeding in this role requires a result and goal oriented mindset as well as customer orientation. You need to be able to work in multifunctional teams which requires the ability to cooperate with different individuals. We expect you to have good communication and negotiation skills. In addition, decision-making skills including ability to critical reflection and taking initiative are central aspects of this role.

    The position requires basic security clearance approval from Finnish authorities.
