Airbus’ latest communications technology strengthens 54th Munich Security Conference

msc_Kuhlmann_1-1.jpgElancourt,  13 February 2018 – Together with Munich’s municipal utility operator “Stadtwerke München”, Airbus will equip the 54th Munich Security Conference with mission-critical and tap-proofed communication solutions. The organisers of the renowned security-policy event have thus opted for highly modern communication tools. The event’s coordinators aim to ensure the security of participants in the field of politics, business and media.

For the first time the Tactilon Dabat will be used during the conference, as the device combines a secure Android smartphone and Tetra radio in one device. Special applications were designed for this event and will be put to use on the Tactilon Dabat to support the event’s proceedings.

Furthermore, a separate base station (TB3c) will be connected to the existing radio network of Stadtwerke München, and this year for the first time a base station TB3hp will be installed in the vicinity of Munich airport. As a result, this will keep operations secure during the event. On account of the heightened security measures, this radio system is enhanced with special encryption features.

This reliable secure radio technology will enable mobile communication for security and conference staff as well as the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) personnel over the entire period of the conference. In parallel, Stadtwerke München is once again making the Airbus TH1n, the world’s smallest Tetra radio, available to conference staff members. It is particularly suitable for covert use, and has been proving its effectiveness at the Munich Security Conference for years.

Over the past years, the Munich Security Conference, initially launched in 1963, has become one of the most important conferences in the field of foreign and security policy. Each year, it provides high-ranking policy makers from all over the world with a forum for constructive discussions of current and future security challenges. As every year, numerous guests from Germany and abroad are expected at the conference.
