Airbus secure communications technology for new metro lines in China

Elancourt 4th September 2023 – Airbus signed contracts to provide secure communications solutions to new metro lines in China.

Xi’an, a city of over 13 million inhabitants, will receive a secure Tetra communications system from Airbus for its 49.896km-long metro line 8. Airbus will provide Taira Servers, TB3 base stations, and TH9 and TMR880i terminals for the new metro line of the Shaanxi province, and its 37 stations. 

It is the third metro line equipped by Airbus as the Xi’an metro line 5 has been put in use since 2020 and Xi’an metro line 16 will be put in operation in this year.

Airbus will also supply an Airbus Tetra communications system including a Taira Server, TB3 base stations, as well as TH9 and TMR880i terminals for the extension of two lines in Hefei; 3 and 4.

The Hefei metro line 3 was put in use in 2020, and line 4 was put in use at the end of 2021. The Airbus Tetra communications systems of the two lines have been running steadily since then.
