Airbus chairs Finnish Priority research program for innovation

Helsinki, 15th October 2019 – Airbus has announced its active participation in a Finnish governmental-funded pioneer research program called Priority, launched in August of this year. Over a two-year time frame, the program aims to find answers to various key research questions in the fields of 5G security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), rural area coverage, and quality of service in hybrid networks, improving critical communications and situational awareness for public safety users.

Airbus consortium participates in European BroadWay project

9 October, 2019

Brussels, 09 October 2019 – An Airbus consortium has signed a pre-commercial procurement (PCP) agreement for the design phase of future pan-European mobile broadband solutions for public safety, called BroadWay. Earlier this year, the European Commission launched the Request for Tender (RFT) for the BroadWay project, in order to define next generation broadband communication systems for Public Safety and Disaster relief organisations (PPDRs) in Europe. The aim of the project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and development programme, is to enhance interoperability across borders.

Airbus technology ensures cross-border communication at Barents Rescue 2019

Kiruna, 9th October 2019 – The reliability and security of Airbus technology, critical networks, and their infrastructure was demonstrated during the Barents Rescue event end of September in Kiruna, Sweden. During the event, safety services such as fire, police, and health end-users from Finland, Sweden and Norway were present to practice real-life emergency situations and demonstrate the need for secure communication in such mission-critical situations, and the importance of trustworthy interoperable cross-border cooperation.

Nordic Critical App Challenge by Airbus: a step towards the future of mission-critical applications

Stockholm, 07 October 2019 – At the end of September, eleven professional application developer companies, primarily from Nordic countries, got together in Stockholm to demonstrate their creations for Airbus’s Tactilon Dabat device. This was the 5th edition of the Critical App Challenge, which has already taken place in Germany, Belgium, Hungary, and the Middle East and North Africa region in order to give local innovative companies from these regions the chance to demonstrate their solutions for public safety and mission-critical use.
